Birthday-Mania
Today, we had Sam's first birthday party; we decided on a Beatles theme (since he is named after a Beatle and he still has to go along with whatever we decide.)
We were so blessed to have so many friends and family with us today, but here's a small barrage of pictures for those who were unable to be with us today:

Last week included no fewer than 2 trips to the doctor's office, a ride in an ambulance, 2 trips to the emergency room, a late night visit to the after-hours clinic, 3 sets of xrays, bloodwork, 2 steroid shots, multiple breathing treatments, a round of antibiotics...and we finally have a healthy boy again. Our doctor's best guess is that Sammers caught some sort of bacterial infection that was causing respiratory distress and generally making all of our lives miserable. It was a really rough week, but we made it through. I know that there were a lot of people out there praying for us and we definitely felt it, so many thanks :)

11 Months Old
Things you should know about this 11 month old:
Sammers wants to walk everywhere and explore everything. I love seeing the world in a new way through his eyes. His mouth is constantly agape in surprise and wonder - it's awesome.
He has seven teeth now and he's not afraid to use them.
He is still in the 50% range for height and weight...and 90% for head size.
He's not very verbal yet, but definitely getting more vocal.
He woofs for "dog", squeals for "cat" and growls for "horse".
Sam is still a great eater (loves fruits, veggies, grains, sushi but meats not so much), not a great sleeper. Last week really messed up our schedule but we're working to get back on it.
He loves to stand in front of the refrigerator and check things out - thanks goodness he knows to shut the door when the alarm goes off.
He already is helping out with chores around the house: he puts laundry in the washer and dryer and shuts the door, helps close the dishwasher, and we even had to get him his own broom because everytime we swept the floor, he tried to grab our broom.
He still loves to listen to music and dance. Two weeks ago we went to a backyard concert to see Trout Fishing in America and now that is definitely what he prefers to listen to. He'll put the remote in your hand and help you push buttons until what he wants to hear comes on.
He claps anytime he hears applause. Or Boomer Sooner.
You usually only have to show him once how to do something and he's got it.
He shrieks with laughter when daddy tickles him - it's hilarious.
He is so interested in big kids and watching what they do.
I can't believe how much I love this little boy and I can't wait to celebrate him next month :)
