Baby Dedication Day

Last Sunday was the Parent Commitment Service at church (aka Baby Dedication Day). Sam was by far the best behaved baby in the service - he slept all the way through the sermon ;) A special thanks to all of his Family and Friends Fan Club for coming to support us and stand with us as we made our commitment to raise Samuel in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.

4 Months Old

Say it with me people..."I canNOT believe we have a four month old!" Sammers is totally awesome. He talks so much - we love listening to his sweet baby sounds over the monitor while he waits for someone to spring him from his crib. His personality is really starting to develop: serious and thoughtful and reserved like mommy but then totally flirty and charming and social like daddy. He enjoys watching and meeting people, especially people his size.
Sam has gotten very proficient at rolling from tummy to back and is starting to strain and stretch and try to get from back to stomach. He is quite the little scooter, too; more often than not, he is upside down and backwards from where we put him to bed. The discovery of both of his feet has lead to hours of self-entertainment. Sammy has figured out the art of the power nap which while impressive, makes it difficult to get much done while he naps. I hardly mind though and can't get enough of him while he's awake. We read and exercise and dance and sing. It's just the best. He loves to climb all over daddy and giggles and laughs when he's tickled. Bath time is most always fun time; he enjoys soaking in the warm water and his favorite game is to get the washcloth out of your hand and into his mouth. Really anything that finds its way into his grabby little hands is probably headed for his mouth.
This little boy is just such a blessing to our family and I'm amazed that already we can't imagine life without him; Wiser and I both told him today "I can't believe that you are here and live with us!"

Daily Sam. And shameless SFA plug.

daily0225

Hey! Y'all be sure to come out to my daddy's show tomorrow at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. It's a family day event and Sugar Free Allstars are going to be playing a combined show with fellow local kindie rocker, Spaghetti Eddie. The event is from 12-4, but the concert will be at 2. Anyone who shows up will get to boogie with yours truly.

Hope to see you there!

Social Butterfly

So Sam hasn't been very good about updating his blog this week, but we've kept him pretty busy. Poor little puppy was so worn out, he slept 9 hours straight one night. Whoa.

This week at OCS was Enrichment Teacher Appreciation, so Sam and I went to visit Momma Jo to make sure she knew she was appreciated. Of course, we had to make the rounds and say hi to all of his friends and fans.

Then, Sam-I-Am got his very own private reading in the library of what else? Green Eggs and Ham.

We also got to enjoy a lunch with our friends the Reids. They are currently moving from the East Coast to the West Coast and on their way across the country, stopped off in OKC to have lunch with us at Iguana Lounge. Tim is a fellow working musician and his wife Brooke has booked SFA at several venues in Kansas City; SFA actually played their wedding two years ago so it was nice to catch up with them and introduce them to Sammers.

Lover Boy

The Wilson girls brought Sammy a valentine this morning. I'm not sure he knew what to think of those silly girls...

He's on a roll...

Sam has spent the last two weeks practicing his rollover (tummy to back) but no matter how sneaky I've been, as soon as the camera comes on, nothing.

Until tonight...

Sorry it's so dark, we're hanging out by the warm fire tonight.

Three. Months. Old.

Well, it's time to do some closet cleaning...Sam is starting to look like the baby hulk in everything that I dress him in, so we're officially moving up a size.

And I know it's getting repetitive but I cannot believe we have a three month old!

Sammy is truly a delight every single day. Fussing is still rare and he wakes up so happy to see and talk to us (and the ceiling fan). His vocabulary is expanding to include "Nnnngoo" "Guh googa" "Ah a-ooo" and he's trying so hard to join in conversations. He is starting to squeal and chuckle and laugh which is pretty much what we live for. Pat-a-cake and peek-a-boo are both good ways to get a smile. He still hasn't quite figured out thumb-sucking and instead prefers to cram as much of his hand into his mouth as he can. Sammers is really enjoying reading time; he sits quietly and studies the pictures, then gets excited and tries to talk to the book's characters. As he has gotten better at holding his head up, he prefers to sit up and then locks his legs to try to stand. We've transitioned from the bassinet to the crib (Mommy had a harder time than Sam with that one). He's really starting to practice his rolling over, too. He still loves to exercise his legs and kicks at almost anything or anyone that is within reach of his feet. Sammy has been to mommy's office a few times this month and is such a big help; he only fusses if he's hungry and is so friendly and enjoys visiting our co-workers. Mommy and Daddy had their first official date night this month and everyone survived (thanks, Momma Jo)! Daddy has gotten to give Sam a few bottles and they both really enjoyed that special bonding time.
Samuel continues to amaze me every single day and each morning, I can't wait to get up and see what wonderful new thing he has learned.
